Smith Rock State Park Climbing Course

This five day camping and rock climbing course is an opportunity for students to learn fundamental rock climbing skills such as climbing techniques, rappelling, how to build top-rope anchors, belaying, route finding, Leave No Trace practices, and expand into sport climbing and harder, more technical single-pitch routes.

This course emphasizes learning and practicing perseverance, courage, and trust, as students challenge themselves and encourage each other through climbing, camping, and nightly Bible studies. Students will build relationships through shared experience and overcoming obstacles together, strengthen their ability to meet life with grit and resilience, and get off the grid to focus on their connection to Jesus as they experience creation in a new way.

All gear for camping and climbing is included, as well as meals. This course starts and ends in Redmond, OR. Transportation options to Redmond include flying, driving, and bus routes. We will be aligning with the current CDC guidelines for the Covid-19 pandemic at the time of the trip, including mask wearing, social distancing, and sanitation protocols.
