Seasonal River Manager


The Whitewater Rafting Lead Guide oversees day-to-day operations of Peak 7’s rafting based out of our Spokane warehouse location.

This position will be responsible for coordinating trips, including maintaining and packing gear, shopping for and preparing food, managing and leading seasonal guides and volunteers, driving to and from trip locations, ensuring Peak 7 policies and procedures are followed, making appropriate risk management decisions, organizing trip paperwork, and communicating with the Program Director and clients. They will be an integral part of creating first rate trips and facilitating a positive and well-organized experience for guests, volunteers, and staff.

Season Commitment: Full time
Start Date: May
Preferred End Date: August 31, 2022
Compensation:  $4,500-$5,500 for the season (depending on end date and experience)
Housing provided at Peak 7’s Spokane Program House

Job Requirements:
Commitment to Jesus Christ reflected in your life
Swiftwater or Whitewater Rescue Technician
CPR and WFA or WFR, or ability to complete WFR/CPR certifications during initial training
Food Handler’s Permit
Doctor’s physical within the last two years

Qualifications:
Legally allowed to work in the United States
Ability to work effectively and efficiently without close supervision
Ability to delegate tasks and manage people effectively
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent verbal communication skills
Strong team player with excellent ability to get along with others
Openness to feedback and ability to accept constructive criticism
Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
Excellent driving record
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
 
Expectations:
Manage seasonal staff and volunteer guides as related to rafting trips
Communicate trip details to clients
Follow up with clients post trip
Manage warehouse gear and oversee trip pack outs
Act as trip lead while in the field
Mentor and supervise seasonal guides and volunteers on trips
Be enthusiastic and willing to participate in all activities. You will not only be around youth, you will “experience” the trips with them. Enjoy the trips and let your excitement spill over for the youth to see it. Be an example of a positive approach to challenges posed by weather, unexpected schedule changes, and the mundane routine.
Be a responsible role model for each youth through your actions, language and work habits. To reflect our commitment to providing high quality, first rate experiences, guides are expected to maintain appropriate hygiene and a professional appearance for the entire season.
Help to create a positive and safe environment for all participants and put their needs first, providing encouragement, guidance, and support with patience.  
Be responsible for their own transportation to and from work, and be on time.
Represent Peak 7 in a positive manner with other guides, staff and the community.
Abide by the staff handbook and all other procedures and guidelines set forth by Peak 7 Adventures.
