Seasonal Guide - Seattle

Guides based in Seattle will facilitate 3-5 day backpacking or mountaineering trips in Olympic National Park and North Cascades National Park, as well as single day rock climbing and stand-up-paddle boarding trips. Some experience rock climbing and backpacking is preferred, but not required. You will be trained in Leave No Trace, backcountry camping, and multi-day backpacking skills, mountaineering, and will go through our Wilderness First Responder course.

Job responsibilities include teaching participants basic rock climbing techniques and backcountry camping, leading group discussions, and facilitating Leave No Trace practices, risk management, and decision making. You will also supervise client gear check out and check in, and manage food preparation and shared gear and equipment. 

Seasonal Guide Requirements:
  • Commitment to Jesus Christ reflected in your life and alignment and agreement with our Statement Of Faith.
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Washington State Food Handlers Permit (Reimbursed by Peak 7 Adventures)
  • Physically fit with the ability to hike and climb long distances in all weather conditions while carrying 40 lbs or more.
  • Able to handle the physical, mental, and emotional challenges of working with clients and fellow guides in difficult terrain, poor weather, and for extended periods of time
  • Doctor’s physical within the last two years

Qualifications:
  • Previous outdoor leadership experience
  • Experience mountaineering, rock climbing, or backpacking
  • Respect and understanding for the highly diverse cultures and populations we serve
  • Reading “Mountaineering: The Freedom of the Hills” book prior to start of season
  • Able to stay positive and motivate others to overcome challenges
  • Passionate about inviting others into the world of outdoor adventure.
